Statistics You Can Watch Fall Into Place
The Galton Board is a working probability demonstrator that turns the bell curve, binomial distribution, and Pascal’s triangle into a hands-on desk toy. Flip the clear acrylic board and roughly 3,000 steel beads cascade through the pin array, settling into a normal distribution curve on every run. It is a tactile STEM teaching tool for statistics, the central limit theorem, and standard deviation.
What the Probability Demonstrator Shows
- Bell curve in real time: around 3,000 steel beads fall through a triangular pin grid and settle into the classic bell curve, demonstrating the central limit theorem with each flip.
- Formulas printed on the board: the standard deviation formula, Pascal’s triangle, and the binomial theorem are printed on the clear acrylic face for quick classroom reference.
- Labeled bins: the lower bins show predicted distribution percentages, so students can compare the observed bead pattern against the theoretical normal distribution.
- Reset by flipping: the weighted base lets the board flip vertically and send the beads back through the grid for the next probability run.
- Desk and classroom ready: a probability board for math teachers, statistics professors, data scientists, engineers, and students who want a visual model of random distribution.
