Wind the Gears and Hear Chopin

This 3D wooden puzzle builds a mechanical cello music box that plays Chopin's Nocturne, Op.9, No.2 in E-flat when you wind the clockwork. The hollow, open structure reveals the internal gears turning as the melody plays, so the finished model is part instrument sculpture and part kinetic music box.
Laser-cut wooden pieces fit together with a mortise and tenon joint structure, so assembly needs no glue. The vintage base is styled as a stack of magic books with European patterns, a design inspired by cellist Pablo Casals, and it displays well on shelves, desks, and side tables.
